BMW R 12 GS Unveiled – A Powerful Adventure Bike with Modern Upgrades

BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the BMW R 12 GS, the latest evolution of its iconic GS adventure motorcycle lineup. Designed for both on-road touring and off-road exploration, the new R 12 GS features a 1,170cc Boxer engine, improved chassis, and advanced rider-assist technology.

Key Highlights of the BMW R 12 GS

  • 1,170cc Air/Liquid-Cooled Boxer Engine – Producing 109 hp at 6,500 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

  • 20mm Shorter Wheelbase (1,520mm) – Improves agility and control.

  • Lighter Frame & Suspension – New steel main frame and aluminum subframe for enhanced stability and weight reduction.

  • Adaptive LED Headlight – Improves night visibility and safety.

  • New Electronic Features – Includes ride modes, traction control, and cornering ABS.




Performance & Engine

The BMW R 12 GS retains its signature 1,170cc Boxer twin-cylinder engine, which now delivers:

  • 109 hp @ 6,500 rpm

  • 115 Nm torque @ 6,500 rpm

This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft-drive system, ensuring smooth power delivery and low maintenance.

Chassis & Suspension

BMW has redesigned the chassis for better weight distribution and control:

  • Steel Main Frame – Increases rigidity and stability.

  • Aluminum Subframe – Reduces overall weight.

  • New EVO Telelever Front Suspension – Enhances front-end feedback.

Pricing & Availability

BMW has yet to announce the official pricing, but the R 12 GS is expected to launch globally by late 2024. The price could be around ₹22-24 lakh in India ($27,000 internationally).
