2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X Launched in India: New Colour, Price Update, and Everything You Need to Know
The Indian mid-capacity motorcycle segment just got more exciting with the launch of the 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X. Triumph Motorcycles, in collaboration with Bajaj Auto, continues to deliver quality, style, and performance at an accessible price. The latest version of the Scrambler 400X has received a bold new colour option and a slight price revision that aligns with its rugged design and adventure-ready DNA. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Scrambler 400X and why it’s making waves in India’s motorcycle scene.
A Fresh Look: New Colour Scheme Introduced
One of the most noticeable updates in the 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X is the introduction of a brand-new colour—Lava Red Satin. This new matte finish replaces the outgoing Volcanic Red and offers a more premium, understated look that complements the motorcycle’s scrambler styling. The red matte hue pairs well with the bike’s classic design elements, such as the high-mounted exhaust, rugged tank pads, and retro-inspired headlamp.
In addition to the new Lava Red Satin, Triumph continues to offer the Scrambler 400X in its other popular colour variants—Matt Khaki Green with Fusion White, Phantom Black with Silver Ice, and Carnival Red with Phantom Black. These options give riders ample choices based on their personality and styling preferences. The paint finish is top-tier, in line with Triumph’s global design standards, giving the bike a premium feel both in showrooms and on the road.
Design That Screams Dual-Sport Purpose
The Triumph Scrambler 400X was always designed with a go-anywhere attitude, and the 2025 update doesn’t deviate from that philosophy. It retains its tall, upright stance with high ground clearance, wide handlebars, and a long-travel suspension setup. Built on Triumph’s new TR-series platform, shared with the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400X stands out with its longer wheelbase, raised mudguard, bash plate, hand guards, and larger 19-inch front wheel.
Its purposeful dual-sport design includes elements such as a split seat setup, dual-purpose tires, and a stubby tail section with a small integrated taillight. The minimalist yet muscular aesthetic makes it as appealing to daily commuters as it is to weekend adventurers. The seat height is set at 835mm, which might feel tall for shorter riders, but it enhances visibility and off-road control.
Powertrain: Proven 398cc Engine Carries Forward
Mechanically, the 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X retains the same 398.15cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that also powers the Speed 400. This engine produces 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, offering a healthy balance of power and torque for both urban commutes and trail riding. It’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox that features a slipper and assist clutch, which makes downshifting smoother and reduces rider fatigue during long rides.
The engine is extremely refined and well-balanced, thanks to Triumph’s engineering prowess. Power delivery is linear and predictable, making it friendly for new riders while still being engaging for experienced ones. Its fuel injection and throttle response are tuned to provide a smooth riding experience across a range of terrains.
Chassis and Suspension: Built for the Rough and the Smooth
True to its scrambler identity, the Scrambler 400X’s chassis is designed for versatile performance. The frame is tubular steel with a bolt-on rear subframe, ensuring strength and serviceability. The bike gets 43mm upside-down Big Piston forks at the front and a monoshock with preload adjustability at the rear. Both offer 150mm of travel, ideal for handling bad roads, gravel paths, and mild trails.
It rolls on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel combination, wrapped in MRF dual-purpose tyres that offer decent grip on and off-road. The braking system consists of a 320mm front disc and 230mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS that can be turned off at the rear wheel, giving the rider more control during off-road sessions.
Electronics and Features: Practical Yet Premium
In terms of features, Triumph has kept things simple but effective. The Scrambler 400X comes with an analog speedometer with a digital inset, offering all the essential information including gear position indicator, fuel gauge, trip meter, and clock. While it doesn't offer a TFT display or smartphone connectivity like some rivals, it maintains a classic charm that appeals to purists.
The lighting setup is all-LED, with a round headlamp, LED DRLs, LED turn indicators, and a stylish LED tail lamp. The switchgear is backlit, giving it a premium touch. There’s no riding mode selection or traction control system, but the ride-by-wire throttle ensures consistent performance in all conditions.
Pricing Update: Slightly Higher but Still Competitive
With the new updates, Triumph has marginally revised the pricing of the Scrambler 400X. The 2025 model now starts at ₹2.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is a slight increase over the previous version. Despite this, the bike still offers excellent value for money, especially when you factor in its international build quality, brand legacy, and overall package.
Triumph also offers the Scrambler 400X with a standard 5-year warranty, and for a limited time until May 31, 2025, customers can avail a free extended warranty of 5 more years, taking the total coverage to 10 years. This is a standout offer in the segment and boosts buyer confidence significantly.
